About Me
My Name is Joseph Brokenbourgh. I have three brothers, my parents are still with us. My paternal grandparents were Delores and William James Brokenbourgh Sr. My Maternal grandparents where Mary Lou and Stanly Walker. I am married, I have two children, one is mine and another is a step-child. My wife is my sons step-mother.
I was born in Sothern California until I was around 8 (correct me if I'm wrong Mom), then we moved to Oklahoma for a bit to run the Ardmore Motor Lodge, then we moved to Central Oregon in 1989 and lived in Umpqua, Oregon where I attended the Umpqua Grade School then Sutherlin Middle School then Sutherlin High School.
After torturing my parents for so many years, I had ambitions to go to college at Oregon Institute of Technology, but I wasn't able to get funding so I got a job, an moved on with life, I ended up in Portland, then Medford and that is where I signed up for the United States Air Force.
I went to basic training at Lackland AFB the tech school in Sheppard AFB. I trained as an Aircraft Mechanic on a KC-135R(AFC 2A531, that's the MOS equivalent in the Airforce). I requested to be overseas, so my first duty station was RAF Mildenhall in England, and after that was Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan. I did about 5 years in the Air Force. I got out early because they were trying to reduce the number of people on Active Duty and I wasn't enjoying the politics of work. All in all, I loved the travel and seeing everything I did.
After the military, my younger brother and I moved to Portland, Or, got jobs, and went to the Air Institute of Portland. Again I wasn't able to get enough loan money to finish so I continued to work. I ended up moving back south to Douglas County worked with my father for a bit, did a bit of exploring, lost myself, moved around, got married (for the third time) had a kid, got divorced, and ended up back again in Douglas County. That is where my current wife and I rekindled an old relationship. We eventually moved to Portland, got married in Hawaii and we are currently raising my son.
I have a lot of interests but unfortunately, they wane a lot of the time. I built my first computer when I was around 13 years old. I still love computers and somewhat keep up with technology to this day. I'm one of the guys the family calls when someone needs help. My older brother knows a lot more than I do. I also had a little stint where I restored vintage computers, where I learned to solder and some electronics.
I also love photography, I used to collect old cameras and I have off and on had a photography business, JB Fhoto (not currently in business).
I've always had a fascination with the natural world, I wanted to be a dendrologist for a long time (tree scientist). I also love physics, although I'm terible at maths.
I've also been super facinated within that pase few years with narrowboats. Narrowboats are long skinny boats that cruise along the English canal system. If your ever interested I recommend Cruising the Cut channel on YouTube, he is a great presenter and explains everything great.
